A Bit About Me
I'm a designer and educator living in California. Born in Japan, I grew up in the U.S. in Massachusetts and Tennessee. I majored in English and taught in Tokyo before becoming a graphic designer in New York. Once I moved to the Bay Area in California and became a mom, I decided to return to teaching and taught English for art purposes and digital techniques for fashion marketing at the Academy of Art University for 14 years.

More recently, I've been substitute teaching for K-12 in response to teacher shortages in my local public school districts. Working in person and watching children develop and grow have been a joy.
I have come to appreciate the diversity of learners in different ages and stages and how they have socialized me as much as I them. As a life-long learner, however, I do miss the challenges and rigors of adult learning both in corporate and higher education settings.
Through this instructional design portfolio, I seek to share my findings and help my fellow learners explore possibilities in digital learning. Thank you for joining me in this journey!
